Oaxaca avaMexico is so rich in bright clothing traditions. Colors, patterns, shapes, textures – South American continent in special that way. But this time, our topic is the traditional dress of Oaxaca region of Mexico. The folk costumes of this area are greatly influenced by the clothing traditions of local indigenous people – Zapotec, Mixtec, Mazatec, Nahua, and some other. So the clothing traditions and peculiarities of Kyivan Rus’ also are a combination of Slavic and Nordic features and customs. This time, we’re showing you Slovak and Czech folk costumes, beautiful garments that are worth seeing and learning about.

Mycenaean avaThe fashion traditions of this Ancient Greek culture brought us the tunic. They were the first – by the way, men, because Mycenaean women didn’t wear tunics – who used this garment and made it so popular that it was warn in Greek, Roman, Dark Age, and Medieval periods. More than that, a tunic is still a popular garment today. Of course, Mycenaean tunics or other garments haven’t survived till this day, so we can’t see them in a museum, but there are some pieces of wall art that we still are able to see and be convinced that Mycenaeans really wore tunics.

They are made rather close in design and detail to actual clothing of the late 19th – early 20th century. In this article, we’re going to look closer at the Lucille Sharpe’s outfits, one of the main characters in this film. Her set costumes definitely deserve attention. Also, we’ll see the historical equivalents of some of her garments, worn by real people in real life.
