This attire is from Cherkasy region of Ukraine (central part of the country), the late 19th – early 20th century. She is wearing a long embroidered shirt (embellished with whitework), a wide skirt with velvet trimming, a hand-woven belt, expensive laced leather shoes, a long pleated waistcoat called “gorset”, a set of colorful ribbons in her hair, a few rows of fake coral necklaces, a silver pendant made from a coin called “dukach”, and a silver cross.

 

 

This is a cute costume from Transcarpathian region of Ukraine (the very western part of the country), the late 19th – early 20th century. She is wearing a long embroidered shirt with colorful embroidery, a skirt called “podolok”, an apron called “plat”, woolen hand-knit socks called “kaptsi”, leather shoes called “postoly”, a beadwoven choker, several rows of glass beaded necklaces, and a bright kerchief on her head.

 

 

This outfit is from Poltava region of Ukraine (central part of the country), the late 19th – early 20th century. She is wearing a long embroidered shirt, high laced leather shoes, a wrap-around skirt called “plakhta”, an apron, a woven belt with a special pocket or pouch attached to it (typical accessory for this area), a ribbon in her braid, a silk kerchief worn like a headband, silver earrings, an adornment made from artificial and wax flowers, a jacket called “yupka”, a few rows of coral necklaces, a necklace made from silver coins, and another coin with a decorative setting.

 

 

Gorgeous traditional attire from Ternopil region of Ukraine (western part of the country), the late 19th – early 20th century. She is wearing a long, richly embroidered shirt, expensive laced leather shoes, a woven wrap-around skirt, a wide woven belt called “kraika”, a set of cute ribbons with floral patterns, several beadwoven ribbons on her head, silver earrings, many rows of coral necklaces, and a necklace adorned with beadweaving and silver coins attached.

 

 

This outfit is from Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine (western part of the country), the late 19th – early 20th century. She is wearing a long embroidered shirt, a wrap-around skirt called “opynka”, a wide woven belt trimmed with charming yarn pom-pons, colorful ribbons with beadweaving in her hair, many rows of coral and fake pearl necklaces, a beadweaving necklace, a brass finger ring and brass earrings, and a decorated sheepskin vest called “keptar”.
