Male attire from the Cinquecento period (the 1500s) in Europe. This is a 16th-century Italo-Spanish costume. These two countries were dominant in fashion in the 1500s.
You can see the jerkin – a close-fitting, short-sleeved jacket worn over the doublet. Jerkins were often made from leather, but fabric was also used.

Re: Italian fashion in the 16th century
Actually, we should thank Italy and Spain for their impact on the fashion industry in the 16th century. This impact has its consequences till today, so I am actually glad that these two countries were that popular in the fashion industry in Europe. Truth be told, I started to really love hats because of Spanish national customs. I even started to purchase custom Spanish-style hats. What about you guys? What are your thoughts about 16th century Spanish and Italian fashion? If you want to chat, feel free to text me.
