The outfits below are the reconstructions of those used in Kievan Rus’, about the 13th century.
The territory of modern Ukraine was the main part of Kievan Rus' in the 9th-early 13th centuries. In those ancient times, people made clothing of homespun cloth, linen or hemp canvas. The clothes were simple and comfy. But the costumes of warriors are quite another matter. Knights used metal armor, leather pieces of clothing and, of course, linen or hempen garments. The main purpose of their costumes was to protect the body in battle. Here you are several examples of warrior clothes used in the Middle Ages.

Modern replica of brigandine – popular in Europe small plate armor. You can also see a helmet and mittens that combine plate armor and chain mail. This red brigandine looks very noble.

Modern replica of medieval helmet with detachable aventail. It even has the eyebrows and shaped nose guard. This helmet is used for historical reconstruction battles – that’s why it’s so beaten.

Authentic medieval armor of a knight. It's from circa 1555-1560. Unfortunately, this armor is only partial, it doesn't even have the leg parts and gauntlets are damaged. But look how elaborate this armor is.

Authentic buff coat – leather under armor of warriors. Thick leather serves as additional protection, under the metal armor.
Re: Traditional clothing of warriors, the Middle Ages
Medieval warrior armor made from leather. It is called “cuir bouillis”, also known as “boiled leather”. It was very thick and protected the knight somewhat from arrows and daggers, but a good sword could cut through such armor easily.

Wonderful Belgian helmet from about 1575. The style was inspired by French helmets. From The Met.

Lovely bascinet helmet from around 1375-1425, possibly French. The helmet is made from steel and has a cute shape, like a child’s hood. There are even holes at the ears so that the warrior hears what’s happening around him. From The Met Museum.
