Japanese traditional tabi socks. Truly unique socks with the big toe separated from other toes. Such a design was invented in the 15th century to fit Japanese folk shoes called “zori” and “geta”.
The length of modern tabi can be different – from traditional ankle-length socks to contemporary split-toe stockings.

Japanese samurai jingasa hat – traditional headdress. It can be made from paper, iron, copper, bamboo, wood, or leather. Here are a few examples of various jingasa from the 2010 “Return of the Samurai” exhibit from the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
