The folk costume of Argentina is bright, comfy, and made in the cowboy-style. Male clothing is called “gaucho clothes”. It consists of a shirt, loose trousers (comfortable to ride a horse) called “bombachas”, a poncho (sleeveless blanket-like outerwear with an opening for the head), traditional shoes called “alpargatas” or gaucho boots, a woven belt called “faja” or leather belt called “rastras”, and a hat (cowboy hat or sombrero).
Female outfit consists of a colorful full skirt, a blouse (white or colorful), shoes, an optional hat, and sometimes a kerchief or blanket.

In Argentina, the woolen poncho is very popular. It protects people from different weather conditions. It has no sleeves – just a hood and a covering for the upper body.
There is a special type of trousers in Argentina called “bombachas de campo”. They are usually worn by men, but women wear them as well.
Men sometimes wear an apron-like attire that stretches to the floor. It contains a traditional belt as well, and it is called “tirador”.
Wide-brimmed hats are also very common in Argentina. They are worn by both men and women, and they help to shade people’s face and eyes from the hot sun.
A type of footwear that is famous in Argentina is called “alpargatas”. People who work in fields usually wear this because it is very durable.
