The traditional costume of Gambian women is very modest. It is called “grandmuba” – an ankle-long dress with long sleeves and an undergarment. A lot of people in Gambia are religious, many of them are Muslims, and so they behave themselves discreetly, and wear modest garments. Women often cover their heads, not only bodies.
