Ukrainian outer garment “yupka”

Vintage Ukrainian female outer garment called “yupka”. It is a kind of jacket with long sleeves and folds at the back.
The back folds made this garment drape beautifully on a woman’s body.
Also, you can see sort of an inner belt that was tied under the breasts so that yupka sit tighter and accentuated female curves.
There are only 3 buttons: 1 hidden on the neckline and 2 decorative on the breast line.
The cuffs, pocket, and front edges are trimmed with velvet.

Also, here are similar garments on a woman – they’re called “kersetka” and they’re sleeveless and shorter than yupka. But you can see how the back folds drape beautifully and the wideness of the garment.

Ukrainian festive outerwear used over 100 years ago. This coat called “yupka” made from fine white wool and embellished with applique and embroidery is an exquisite winter garment.
