In Ukraine, unmarried girls often wore various wreaths. During the wedding ceremony, brides exchanged the wreath for a kerchief. The bridal wreaths were the most festive, ornate, and beautiful ones. They could be made from fresh, dried, or artificial flowers and herbs, fabric, yarn, plastic, etc. The decorations were made from yarn, metal, plastic, foil, feathers, etc. Almost always, a festive wreath was decorated with long colorful ribbons.
In Serbia, unmarried girls braid their hair and use small caps with flat top or scarves as a headdress. On the photo below, you can see such a cap. It is woolen and decorated with embroidery and coins. Serbian-headdress1.jpg
